Autism Support At Work

To support neurodiversity in the workplace (autism, ADHD coaching and mentoring support with your job)

Workplace mentoring / coaching helps address positively the issues neurodiversity (autism, ADHD etc) may present at work - and allows you to start turning negatives into positives.

Our autism work coaching / mentoring offers practical and personal support to help with any challenges you have due to your mental health that are making it difficult to function as you would wish in the workplace. Our workplace support is goal orientated and solution focused (while all the time, tailored to your own unique situation): Helping neurodiverse employees to succeed in the work environment. This enables you to achieve your potential, overcoming barriers that are currently proving difficult to overcome.

We can help you identify your strengths and develop strategies to navigate your work environment. This, in turn, can lead to improved performance, communication, and career advancement.

From an employers perspective, autism workplace support coaching / mentoring can promote staff retention, and a more inclusive workplace culture. Research has shown that with the right support, neurodiverse employers can utilise exceptional talent. This gives organisations a competitive edge due to the diversity of skills, creativity, and approaches to problem solving.

Please get in touch to discuss how we might be able to help. The government access to work scheme grant can fund work mentoring /coaching for neurodiverse employees. Even if you are waiting for a diagnosis, you can still apply. See below for more details.

UK Government Access To Work Scheme

The Access to Work scheme is a government funded initiative that provides a grant to support people who have a physical or mental health condition or a disability. This includes those with Autism, ADHD and other neurodiverse conditions.

It is aimed at removing work-related barriers and helps to pay for things like coaching/mentoring support to help you in the workplace.

Whilst access to assistance does not require a formal diagnosis  - having a diagnosis significantly helps.

To qualify for Access To Work support, you must fulfil the following four criteria:

  • Have a physical or mental health condition or disability that means you need support to do your job, or get to and from work.

  • Be 16 or over.

  • Be in paid work (or be about to start or return to paid work in the next 12 weeks), even when working from home.

  • Be employed or self-employed.

  • Live and work (or be about to start or return to work) in England, Scotland or Wales. You cannot get Access to Work if you live in the Channel Islands or the Isle of Man. There’s also a different system in Northern Ireland.

A paid job can be full or part-time and can include:

employment

self-employment

an apprenticeship

an internship

a work placement

You cannot get Access to Work support for voluntary work.

Your workplace can include your home if you work from there some or all of the time. It will not affect any other benefits you receive and you will not have to pay it back.

For support to be arranged and funded, you will need to disclose your disability to your employer.
